“I begin in my studio in Isabela. The spotted eagle ray seen while snorkeling, the way the reef looks through the water’s surface, the plants that grow like they were here first—those were the subjects first because they were the things that initially stopped me.

The work has always been about bringing that living color into rooms and onto all types of surfaces. Murals people walk past every day. Paintings that hang in certain rooms. Swimwear that leaves the wall and moves through daily life.

Now I’m also looking in the quieter places. The school girl sitting on the bench. The negative space that is never really empty. The plants and animals are still here. They just have more company.”

New Original Works

Painting new works for my first show in Puerto Rico with another artist, Di Cortez, called “Neon Dreams”, exploring new techniques, mediums, and the use of negative space and colors that change under certain light.
